Finished Happymans basic structure. Started Unluckyman

I have finished the basic body of the man. I only needed to model one half of the body and I mirrored it to make the model symmetrical. I then welded the two halves together and tadaa! I have my body. As you can see, I still need to give him clothes.

I have also begun on the Unluckyman. So far I have just done the head, using the same techniques that I used when making the Happyman. Next is the body...

Body made

I have used the methods I have already learned about to continue with my model, so to speak. He is naked. But I have completed his hands and am working on his feet, getting his shoes to match the shape, which shouldn't be too difficult as it is a simple shape. On this picture, I am working on the legs. I am adding more polygons because I have been told that they are a bit sparse and need a bit more detail.

I used my own hand to model the hand and fingers, looking at it from all sides to attempt the shape. I do not think it is too bad. Although the thumb needs some additional work and the hand needs touching up in general.

Chest and Arms

Been working on shaping my body and arms, the arms and legs seem pretty straightforward but I have to keep adding polygons to the chest to make enough polygons to match the neck and head. Because I will be attaching them to each other, I need the same number of polygons on both, and am worried that there are too many polygons on the front. I hope it doesn't hinder my animation at all...

Struggling

I am currently struggling with working in 3D. It is hard to work in wireframe for me, as I cannot see what on earth is going on! It's confusing, there on the bottom! Also I am slowly getting used to working in such a 3D environment, which is completely different to what I am usually used to. But the actual model making as coming along nicely, and I have already got a head for my Happyman made, as can be seen on the top.

On The first Day...

The beginning of the second semester and I have started the modelling of the characters for my short film.
I am an animation student undergoing my masters and am learning how to use 3D Studio Max for the first time. Considering my work is primarily 2D (check my youtube channel for my previous videos and examples of my style www.youtube.com/user/randomguy342 ), working in 3D is an entirely new experience for me. As a result, I have to start with the basics.
